Out of Commission

I guess I was doing too much biking and running and the like. As a result, I developed a tear in my patellar tendon (right below the kneecap) and was on crutches for a few weeks. If that wasn't enough, I sprained the ankle on my good leg coming down some stairs! I ended up rolling around in a wheel-chair last week.

That was certainly an interesting experience! Not only was it a challenge to navigate the U of M, but getting to and from school was also a hassle. Cooking was tough, cleaning was almost impossible, and even using the restroom was difficult. It was pretty hard for Julia as well. She had to take time from her busy schedule to give me a hand. I definitely have a new respect for those who've got disabilities, whether they are temporary or permanent.

I'm back up and walking this week, albeit with an ankle brace and a full-length knee immobilization brace. I'll be in the knee brace for another few weeks, and the ankle will probably be braced for a while longer. Also, no running or biking for 6 weeks! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.

Hi Chris
We're just glad that you are doing better! For the next 6 weeks table games will be a good way to use your free time. How about a game of Scabble?...........

I'm always up for some games! I might have to break out the Surfing Edition Monopoly.
