The Real Adventure Begins...

I've been back now for about a month and a half now and I've been busy. I went on a whirlwind tour of Minnesota during the holiday season to visit family and friends. Since then things have not slowed down much for me. I've been couch-surfing and camping and all over the place since.

Earlier this month I started helping out at Ski Gull with their sixth-grade Learn to Ski program. Twice a week a class of 80 to 150 sixth-graders from area schools come. We try to get every last one of them at least sliding on two skis by the end of the day. Its a lot of fun to be a part of a program that I myself went through 14 years ago.

Also earlier this month, I traveled to Arizona with Julia and her family. Julia's sister and her boyfriend are teachers in the Phoenix area. We visited them and did some very fun and interesting things. We hiked in the South Mountains, went to the Phoenix Zoo, climbed a slab of desert granite, and conquered Camelback Mountain... all in a week. We even managed to relax pool-side with some Margeritas one afternoon.

Other than that I've been doing a random assortment of activities from indoor-climbing at Vertical Endeavors in St. Paul with Julia to winter camping at Afton State Park with Joe and up at Ely's Peak with Heather. I've also been trying to get into the YMCA to swim as much as possible in preparation for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica, which should be chock-full of surfing.

I've got many pictures to post, so stay tuned for those.
